interpretation

Hi, everyone.
I have a question about the interpretation of the follwing sentence.

It(=a letter) lay at the bottom of a little heap of correspondence on the breakfast-table, like the last evil lot to leap out of the shaken urn, an Ephedrus, like that Adulterer who at the finish tripped the Conqueror of Troy.

"the last evil lot...the shaken urn" part seems to refer to Horace's Ode, the second book, iii. (We are all driven toward the same quarter: the lot of all is shaken in the urn; destined sooner or later to come forth, and embark us in [Charon's] boat for eternal exile), and "Adulterer" and the "Conqueror of Troy" are obviously Aegisthus and Agamemnon. But what is "Ephedrus"? All I could find is that it is a parasitic wasp, and I don't understand what a wasp has to do with "Adulterer" or the "Conqueror of Troy". I appreciate your help very much.

Perhaps it means just that - a parasite.
