Default paraphrasing of words and word combinations 4

    Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to revise my paraphrasing of the bolded words and word combinations from the following sentences?

1.1. The bigwig was in the centre of attraction.
1.2. The bigwig was in the limelight.

2.1. The politician emphasied the needs of the disadvantaged.
2.2. The politician laid stress on the needs of the disadvantaged.

3.1. It is rumoured that the governor Smith will be nominated.
3.2. It is in the wind that the governor Smith will be nominated.

    Thank you for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V.

Yes these are good enough re-writings.
Note Governor Smith. If he's not already governor
3.1. It is rumoured that Smith will be nominated as Governor.
1.1 Perhaps you the centre of attention? - far more common phrase.
