Roughly speaking, there are three basic types of parents: overly protected, consultant, and vacant. Important to realize that they are still parents, but some are more involved than others. The Overly protected parent which is extremely involved in his children’s life, checking every move, expecting and demanding a lot of his life, and what he says goes. If the child was to come home one hour late from school because he had to walk home due to him missing the bus, he will not be allowed to explain himself. This parent has a lot of good intentions, but approaches things too roughly. However, the consultant parent not being so strict. Will help his children out, listen to his side of the story, provide guidance, and allow his children to explore and let consequences serve as a teacher. He also allows his children to explain why their late home from a date, and how traffic was moving slowly and stopped him from getting home on time. He knows their things in life you have no control over. However, whenever you need them they will there to help. Nevertheless, the vacant parent has no rules set for his children, offers little to no guidance finds other things more important and has no time to communicate, lets children do what they please, leaving the learning to be obtained from the streets, television, and school. It will be possible for his children to never come back home from a date because he doesn’t care or is too busy with other things. What he doesn’t understand is that children need guidance, and rules on how to deal with society. Most people will find the consultant parent to be the best out of the three, because it’s good to have a little freedom, but someone to guide and give advice at the same time. |
