'remained' and 'remain' function as linking verbs, which means 'glued' should end in -ed because it is functioning as an adjective:
1. He just remained glued to the ground dumbly.
1. He just remains glued to the ground dumbly.
Test for Linking Verbs He is glued to the ground. ('is' is a linking verb) He seems glued to the ground. ('seems' is a linking verb, and it can only occur with adjectives)
