If using in the Past Tense,

Which one is correct?

If using in the Present Tense,
1. He just remains glued to the ground dumbly.
2. He just remains glue to the ground dumbly.

What about in this case? Which is correct?
Would someone clarify what tense to use along with the word "remained" and "remain"?
