Hello teachers.
I don't know what "Genetics is a bitch" means.
It's like, you can't fight against your gene?
Please help me!
Thanks.
It could be something to do with your height, the colour of your hair, or your physical appearance in general.
It's a lamentation for something you were born with.
I think it's more likely to mean that genetics is a difficult subject, in a biology degree for example. In the same way that "history is a bitch" or "English is a bitch."
Not a teacher.
Either. It would depend on the context:
Colloquium's choice:
A: Any child I have has a 50% chance of having this disorder.
B: Yeah - genetics is a bitch.
IWS's version:
A: I can't make up my mind for a subsid; I've got it down to a choice - either ecology or genetics
B: No contest! Ecology's a walk in the park; genetics is a bitch.
I think I agree with IWS that the academic context is more probable; but the other is quite possible.

Is it worth mentioning that the "is a bitch" phrasing will be considered a bit vulgar in some contexts? Don't use it with your grandmother.
Thank you so much!
You guys are so helpful!
