some hints/suggestions/advice for
Mr. Garry gave us some hints for improving our writing ability.
Hi,
Does "hints" in the above mean "suggestions" or "some pieces of advice?" Thanks.

Hi, Angli!
Check hints definition | Dictionary.com
I would stay with "suggestions" and "advice" instead of "hints".
"Hints' implies that complete information is not being provided.
"Mr. Garry gave us some suggestions for improving our writing ability."
"Mr. Garry gave us some advice for improving our writing ability."

Thanks, Amigos4, for the explanation and kindness.

Best regards,
Lewis
