Default British English Parentheses

Hi, I just had a quick question. In British English, is the punctuation put inside the parentheses, or outside?

would it be

...(though it was quite possible this was simply because he had not declared his position and she did not want to take the risk that their thinking was opposed .)

or

...(though it was quite possible this was simply because he had not declared his position and she did not want to take the risk that their thinking was opposed).

If any one could tell me the answer (I've already tried to check other sources for the answer) I'd really appreciate it.

In your example,
the risk that their thinking was opposed).

is correct.

Note, however:

...hated him. (This, however, was not the general opinion at the time.)

where the entire sentence is in parentheses.
