Question words with unexpected meanings

How are you teachers?

I don't know to which category my question belongs so I'm just writing here.

I'm taking an exam next month. And the exam has some vocabulary questions. The questions provide limited context so you must know the correct meaning of the word.

The problem is some words have other meanings that are seemingly very different from one meaning.

For example, I had trouble with such words as commute, doctor, reservation, weather, collar, realize, unscrupulous, pedestrian, summary.

commute :
1 to travel regularly between two places
2 to alter (a criminal sentence) to one less severe.

doctor :
1 someone who practises medicine
2 to falsify

reservation :
1 booking
2 a feeling of doubt

weather :
1 atmospheric condition
2 to come through difficulties

collar :
1 the part of a shirt
2 to catch someone and hold them

realize :
1 to know and understand
2 to obtain or earn an amount of money

There must be more of such words. Does anyone know any such words? Or by any chance, is there any good reference that I can use?

Thanks for reading my question.
Have a nice day!

You can spend quite a lot of time looking up dictionaries to find a numberless examples like you cited up there. check words like, book, run, spoon, close for example.

A test that gives you no context for words like this is simply unfair and badly thought out. The most charitable thing to be said of people who set this sort of test is that they are unimaginative.
