| I know it is usually What is the date today? What day is it today? Is this also possible? What is the day today What date is it today? And, When date and day are said fast orally in questions. How can speakers tell the difference?Which is speaker asking? |

| Usually because the words are stressed, and the stock questions are: "What's the date today?" "What day is it?" (When said in isolation, it is taken as referring to 'today', otherwise it would be something like, "What day is the party?" The questions What is the date today? What day is it today? sound like you are assessing for dementia! |
