    Default tap into

The Greatest Game Ever Played, directed by Bill Paxton, is based on a true story. The movie's protagonist is Francis Ouimet, a former golf caddie of immigrant parents more used to carrying golf clubs than swinging them. In 1913, he stunned America when he challenged his hero and golf pro Harry Vardon in the US Open and wins. This is a Disney movie that taps into Disney virtues of family, hope and the ability to rise above the disrespect of others.

    Hi teachers,
Does tap into mean " to make use of a source of energy, knowledge, that already exists" here?

It is rather more that the film is using these virtues as a source to emphasise its theme - it is connecting to the virtues.
