A street vendor.

A stall is more permanent, and indeed should be a stall which would be a table, a surrounding area, and a roof of sorts. A stand might not have the surrounding area or room; might be just a table.

In earlier times, vendors used to move around streets of a city to sell their products and carried merchandise on their head. Meanwhile, paper, pencils and inks etc was required around places like Courts and governemnt offices. For selling these products, there came up shops which were stationary and hence the merchandise that was sold in such shops were called stationery shops.
