Question what are main verbs and linking verbs?

What are main verbs i am doing my homework and the directions say to do the following
Underline the helping verb once and the main verb twice
example:
1. Did you ever spin a top toy?

What are linking verbs also...? On my homework it says to Underline the linking verb in each sentence
EXAMPLE:
1. A snake's skin is quite dry.
PLEASE HELP ME! IT IS DUE TOMORRO!
THANK U SO MUCH!

Sorry. We can't do your homework for you, but we can help you with it if you give us a few of your answers.

For example: A man's house is big.
