seal number
Please, could anybody explain the term 'seal number' ?
I understand the word seal, but in the connection with automotive industry(logistics)-in which I have seen it- it doesnt make sense to me

It really does help to have a sentence as an indicator of how it is used. One possibility is that it is the number on a seal used to close containers for shipping, which will be recorded on the shipping documents in case the container requires tracing or checking.

THANK you...I know kontext would help, but I do not have any.. One American company requires the seal number, but we do not use such a 'lock' of a container...at least I have no access to any similar number..I will try to find some hint and then I will go back to you...if possible.
