I would like to know if the following two sentences are equals. Thanks for helping.

As rust eats into iron, so care eats into the heart.
As rust eats into iron, so does care eat into the heart.

Ex: As a man ages, so (too) does a tree (age).

Ex: As rust eats into iron, so (too) does care (eat) into the heart.

Soup gave a great explanation, but I would change the sentence.

rust corrodes and ruins iron, so a better analogy would be:

As rust eats into iron, so (too) does jealousy (eat) into the heart.
