    Bath is known for its mineral hot springs, which were discovered by ... Romans when they invaded Britain 2,000 years ago.

    Do we need 'the' with 'Romans'?

    Yes. 'The Romans' indicates the Roman invaders as a collective. Whereas if you use just '...discovered by Romans.' it could mean a couple of Romans out for an afternoon stroll.
