    Hi Barb_D,

Thank you for the echo, I mean, the confirmation of the usage in the US.

I am interested in this expression - from the side of the pond. I have a picture in my mind: You are standing on one side of a serene pond, crying " Ahoy! ))))))) We'd also call it a suit!" The voice is echoing.

Is the expression created by you or what? Care to tell me? Thanks!

    No, I'm not that clever.

It's not uncommon to refer to the Atlantic Ocean as "the pond" when discussing differences or similarities or relations between the US and the UK. (Canada sometimes has more in common with the US and sometimes more in common with the UK, so I say "the US" and not "North America.")

    Ahoy Barb_D,

Thank you very much for pulling me out of "the pond".

    Have a good one!
