Hi Bhaisahab,
Thank you for your reply.:-D I once talked with an American net pal online. I asked him whether I should wear suit to meet an American client. He responded, "I had thought you were a woman." I told him I am a woman. But he said I used the word-suit that made him think I am a man.
Is there any way to distinguish women's suit from men's suit in English words?
By the way, can I ask what your handle means if you don't mind? It's a bit long for me to memorise it. 8-)
Re: Women's dress for business
To the best of my knowledge it's called a suit in BrE whether it's for a man or a woman. My user name means roughly 'older brother' in English, it' a Hindi word.

So it is! भई साहब I never noticed that.
Re: Women's dress for business
I spent some time living and working in India; I was older than my colleagues, they called me Bhaisahab and my wife Bhabhiji.

I've only recently becoming interested in Hindi, so most of my learning has been reading, and "saying" your name didn't register. Visiting India is on my Top Ten Things still to do List.

You are most welcome, Dr. Ray!
By the way, Bhabhi means, wife of elder brother and it is a respectful term too.

Just a voice from this side of the pond: We'd also call it a suit.

You really should go. I can recommend Rajasthan, especially Udaipur, my second home.:-)
