Need help urgently
This is my homework
1.The prince (see) ............ Cinderella at the party. She (wear) ................. a beautiful gown.
First one is saw, right? but the second one I'm not sure whether it is wore or was wearing.
2.When the hare (wake) ................. up, the tortoise (win) ..................... the race
It is both past simple, right?
Thanks

Both are correct but ...was wearing...... is more natural.
Hope this helps!

To go to the ball*, Cinderella wore a beautiful gown.
But 'When Prince Charming saw Cinderella at the ball she was wearing a beautiful gown'. If this is broken down into two sentences - as in your example - you could (just) use the past simple, but not if you're thinking of the story: 'when he <past_simple> she <past_continuous>' - that's what she was doing when he saw her.
The key to the second one (hare/tortoise) it to think of the story too - the hare woke up; what had happened before that?
*Your example uses the word 'party', but the traditional story uses the less common word "ball". Some courses don't teach this word, as it's not very common. But it has lots of cognates in other languages (though probably not in Thai!)

Please read the note on the first page of this forum.

I didn't notice it. It was just a typing error, not more than that. Thanks for pointing out the mistake though.
