how do I address a medical consultant IE. is it Dr. Or Mr. ?

In the UK a consultant surgeon [which includes obstetricians/gynaecologists] is addressed as Mr xxxxx; a non-surgical consultant is Dr.


Dentists, on the other hand, are Mr. unless they take a separate medical degree in which case they become Dr., even when consultants.
