Default with flying colors = to do something perfectly

Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am on right track by interpretation of the expressions in bold in the following brief excerpt from an entertainment news?

ALL MY CHILDREN: Aidan offers to take a polygraph test to put an end to Jesse's suspicions about his involvement with Emma's "kidnapping." Aidan passes it with flying colors.

with flying colors = in triumph
flying color = complet success/ to do something perfectly

Thank you rof your efforts.

Regards,

V.

If you pass a test with flying colours, you are very successful in it. So, your sentence is correct.
Hope this helps!
