I'm writing an essay and I would like to see if anyone in here could make the following underlined words/phrases or sentences a bit more sophisticated.

1-The US Constitution was crafted .
2-The founders of the US made it a point to give press enough protection to carry out its essential role.
3- to get enough reliable information.
4- What democracy can the US celebrate if it is one (democracy) derived from the public's ignorance? Please help me with this
5-The media’s informative role is not enough by itself, for the media have also to provide a forum for/of discusson.
