Default asking for teachers' advice on writing an essay

i have just learned about tenses (12 kinds of tenses), and then I want to write an essay using those tenses. Please kindly advise what type of essay I shuld follow? In my opinion, I should write an essay that is related to an activity in the past, now, and in the future because certain essay only uses simple tense (e.g. an essay related to habitual). thanks, sio
