Which one of these sentences is correct and why ?

My brother and I visited them last year.

My brother and me visited them last year.

My brother and I visited them.' 'I' is clearly the subject pronoun here. 'Me' is an object of the verb: 'The aliens visited my brother and me.'

Where it gets confusing is: 'Between you and I/me, who is the better golfer?' or 'It is I/me who/whom you saw crossing the road with the chicken'.

In addition, try replacing the underlined portion with "We". If it sounds OK, then "I" is the correct form to use:
