I would use what make, but both are equally possible.
Make is perhaps more specific, in that it implies a maker.
For instance, we would say what sort of animal is that? But not what make of animal is that?
The word make indicates that it is a man-made object; whereas the word sort can be used for natural and man-made objects.
It is your choice.

I think 'What make' is the more correct choice. The use of 'What sort' instead will not necessarily result in the answer 'It's a Honda'. For instance possible answers to 'What sort is your motorbike' could include 'It's a red one' or 'It's a V-Twin'. 'What make' is the more specific question of the two.
