See You means what?

When the interviewer said :" see you" after the interview, what does this mean? Does it mean the candidate is hired?

If all he said, after a conversation, was a parting remark, "See you," it really means nothing more than "good-bye." Taken literally, he is saying "I'll see you again later" - but that's just an idiom. If someone says "See you" to you when parting, you wouldn't ask, "Great! When?" back (well, you might if you were I, but then I like to stir it a bit with idioms). You would just say, "Yeah!" and leave, without an expectation of an imminent future encounter.

I would say :"see you" means he/she means see you some time in the future, the exact time time is not known unless it goes with " tomorrow, in a week , in a month... etc". For the situation as in the interview, she would say :"bye-bye" or "good luck" if she is not sure you are hired. He/She may means "you are hired" by saying :"see you"

I just asked a friend of mine whose English is first language. He said he is not really sure if :"see you" means see you some time in the future. Hope you can get the answer from some experts here.
