as a friend = since you are a friend
Dear teachers,
Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am on the right track by interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?
1. As a friend, you need to talk to him about his sexual problem.
as a friend = since you are a friend
2. Since you are his friend, you should talk to him about his sexual problem.
Thank you for your efforts.
Regards,
V.
