Ways to learn new words & improve on spelling

I want to know what is the way to learn new words and start using them? also how can I improve on my spelling? Please give me any tips and hints.

Read news papers, magazines and refer dictionery for new words.

The issue is not only to learn new words, but to remember them; that is, to use them.

Here's a game for two (A and B):

A starts with a word. B must use it in a sentence. Then B takes the last letter of this word, and finds a new word starting with that letter.

Then A must use both words in a sentence, find a word that starts with the last letter of B's word, etc.

As words accumulate, only the last five are used in the sentences. As long as the game is played, no words can be repeated.

It helps to define a given category (for example, things in the kitchen, political philosophies, verbs of motion, etc.) and to stick with words in that category.

It's that game where someone get a word and has to draw it on a white board or something to the others to guess what is that. But this one is web based. If you need a less childish way just follow the other members suggestions. :-)
