1. Can I say, " wearing a watch on her hand"? 2. Am I correct if I say," The one reading a book is Helen." OR should it be, "The one who is reading a book is Helen. 3. Is it compulsory to have a hyphen in " seventy-five"? OR seventy five ( still correct???) 4. The manager was angry when he found his assistant had taken (correct? or took) French leave again. Thank you very much for advising. Last edited by Help Wanted; 24-Nov-2004 at 18:21. Reason: Wanted to add one more question

1a. She is wearing a watch. 1b. She is wearing a watch on her wrist. Note, a watch is usually worn around one's wrist, or on one's wrist. 2a. The one reading a book is Helen. 2b. The one who is reading a book is Helen. 3a. seventy-five 3b. seventy five 4. ...when he found (that) his assistant had taken ...

1. "on" is okay but I would use "wrist" instead of hand. Superficially the hand consists of a broad palm attached to the forearm by a joint called the wrist. http://encarta.msn.com/encnet/refpag...efid=761568440 2. Both are fine, but I'd use "the book". 3. It's a rule in grammar books. You can break though. 4. Both are good.
