Default Ride out

Can you explain to me the several meanings this verb (to ride out) can have with some examples please?

I just know that "to ride out" can mean "to superate" or "to go through" like in this example: "The storm is getting bad, it's gonna get worse and I think people can just stay inside their homes and try to ride it out."

or "I know how you feel...I went through a similar situation but I managed to ride it out."

Thanks for your explanations.
