wash one's hands of = refuse to accept responsibility for
Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am on the right track with my usage of the idiom “wash one’s hands of” in the following sentence?
“I have done all I can for the extension of our satisfactory and eventful cohabitation, and now I’m washing my hands of her.”
Thank you for your efforts.
