    Default spread

can you please tell me what spread means in this context?

OK, that's good, whatever. The point is, if you went out to the low price spread because you think all dry cleaners are the same and you paid $1.12 to have that dry cleaned, two things might happen. 1) If you need it Friday, you may not get it until two weeks from Friday.2) The fact that they can do it for 99 cents means they probably get a "hell of a deal" on the mostcaustic chemicals, and they probably don't really put it through the whole nurturous process -including one additive that the higher quality providers do, which is the softening agent.

It is colloquial I imagine and very poor English indeed.

In context 'spread' is a noun referencing a lower quality dry cleaning establishment. IMO

I would avoid using such a term if you want to be understood easily.

Fair enough: though colloquial 'advertising talk' of a "category or group" as it is an uncommon term other than in America.
