Smile What does these mean???

Dear Sirs,

I am writing to ask the meaning of this sentence.

1. One must be able to obey commands as well as give them? "Give them" here means what?

2. Best among paths is the eight-fold path: right view, right intensions, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, right concentration. This path will lead to wisdom, ethics, and awareness.
I know the eight-fold path here means the things followed this phrase but how to explain the "eight-fold path" wordly?

Thanks very much:)

Emily

(1) 'Give them' means 'give commands'.

(2) I am familiar with the Buddhist Four Noble Truths and the Eight-fold Path, but I don't understand what you mean by 'wordly'. Could you ask your question a different way?
