Adjective or Adverb
When is an adjective used as an adverb?
Is the bolded word in each of the following sentences an adjective or adverb?
Please explain.
1. The boats seemed enormous to Stuart.
2. The car became invisible when Stuart pressed the button.
Thanks so much!

Both are adjectives. Both adjectives relate to the subject of the sentence and not the verb.

'seemed' and 'became' are copulas linking the predicate adjective to the subject (noun) they modify.
