| | Re: need help No, B. is incorrect, I'm afraid. The point is, the phrase 'To be heated...' (same as the fuller form: 'In order to be heated...') indicates a purpose for which something is done. An example of a correct sentence using this phrase would be:
'Some liquids need huge amounts of thermal energy to be heated.'
or 'To be heated, some liquids need huge amounts of thermal energy.'
In your example heating is the process capable of causing the liquid - gas phase transition (a cause, not purpose). So the correct choice is C. 'Heated, ...' (read: 'When heated,...').

1a. Liquids when they are heated can be changed into gases.
1b. Liquids when heated can be changed into gases.
2a. When they are heated, liquids can be changed into gases.
2b. When heated, liquids can be changed into gases.
2c. Heated, liquids can be changed into gases. |
