Hi

A singer says: "The only melody that felt comfortable was really conversational and that led me to be able to write a lyric"

---Conversational melody? What is it? Maybe it's a melody when a singer can speak, like in rapping maybe?

Anybody knows?

I can't really put it in words. :oops: The melody had a conversational note, it was the perfect one to have its lyrics written. I hope you see where I'm trying to get. :-)

Perhaps someone else can give a better explanation. :-)

But does "conversational" here mean the same as "speaking"? It seems to me that thanks to this melody it was easy to sing.

The singer later added: When I sing in that conversational tone, my lyric can be like prose writing.

May I add? Speech and music are both intervals of sound. Probably the singer likes melodies that remind him of ordinary speaking: same inflections of pitch, same rhythm. Those are the melodies it's easy to write lyrics to: they sound natural.
