I can't really put it in words. The melody had a conversational note, it was the perfect one to have its lyrics written. I hope you see where I'm trying to get.

But does "conversational" here mean the same as "speaking"? It seems to me that thanks to this melody it was easy to sing.

May I add? Speech and music are both intervals of sound. Probably the singer likes melodies that remind him of ordinary speaking: same inflections of pitch, same rhythm. Those are the melodies it's easy to write lyrics to: they sound natural.
