Lightbulb Whether

She also wasn’t able to tell apart whether the cold water running down her cheeks were tears or raindrops.

Should I use "tell apart" and "whether" on the above sentence?
Does this make sense?
Free feel to give me suggestions.
Thanks.

Francois is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Re: Whether

I would use just "tell", not "tell apart".
"She could not" may work better than "she also wasn't able", depending on context.
