Re: so much so that I would say that neither (2) or (3) are grammatically correct.
For (2) to be grammatically correct, it should read:
He was good-looking, so he was voted the best-looking man in his town.
or:
He was good-looking, so was voted the best-looking man in his town.
This does not mean quite the same as (1), because (2) suggests that the man was voted best-looking just because he was good-looking.
The 'so much so' in (1) clarifies the situation, and is grammatically corect. |
