Default so much so that

Are all these sentences correct and do they all mean the same:

1-He was good-looking, so much so that he was voted the best-looking man in his town.

2-He was good-looking, so that he was voted the best-looking man in his town.

3-He was good-looking, such that he was voted the best-looking man in his town.

It seems to me that 2 and 3 are grammatically correct, but don't mean the same as 1.

I would say that neither (2) or (3) are grammatically correct.

For (2) to be grammatically correct, it should read:
He was good-looking, so he was voted the best-looking man in his town.
or:
He was good-looking, so was voted the best-looking man in his town.

This does not mean quite the same as (1), because (2) suggests that the man was voted best-looking just because he was good-looking.

The 'so much so' in (1) clarifies the situation, and is grammatically corect.

I think Grit meant 'incorrect' in the first line. I agree with him, if this is the case; the first is fine, but 2&3 don't work.
