Default Water of a duck's back

Can someone please tell me some information on this Idiom. I need to know this for a class essay.

To add to Red's post, like water off a duck's back means without having any effect, without changing your feelings or opinion.

ex. Whenever I give my daughter advice, it rolls off her like water off a duck's back.

She doesn't take any advice and she could care less. Duck feathers don't take in water and so it makes no difference to the duck if he gets wet because the water runs off his feathers.

actually, she could NOT care less

this is one of those expressions that native speakers often get wrong

correct: i couldn't care less
incorrect: i could care less
