Need advice with Preposition, thanks teachers!

In the following sentence, do we need the preposition "in"?

The next "Year of the Monkey" will be in 2016.

if the year of the monkey actually corresponded to the year 2016, then i would say no

but since the Chinese calendar has a different start date and it would be in both 2016 and 2017, i think you would want to say something like:

The next "Year of the Monkey" will begin in 2016.

or

The next "Year of the Monkey" won't be until 2016.
