structure of linking verbs
Is the structure below correct for linking and non-linking verbs?
linking verb +adjective+ optional prepostional or noun phrase
or
non-linking verb + adverb +optional prepostional or noun phrase
Can a linking verb have a adverb after it?
Can a non-linking verb have a adjective AFTER the adverb?
Thanks for the help.

I'll answer the first one.
(1) We are in the house. (adverb)
The phrase 'in the house' is a prepositional phrase in form, and since it answers the question Where?, it functions as an adverb. Adverbs of Place occur with linking verbs.

Re: structure of linking verbs
It looks like a linking verb can also have a adverb after the linking verb but before a adjective as shown below:
The flower smells very nice.
determiner+noun+linking verb+adverb+adjective
There seems to be only 1 difference in structure between the linking verb and the non-linking verb. A linking verb allows a adjective to occur after it and the non-linking verb does not.
Is "very" a degree adverb or a frequency adverb or both?

It's not a frequency adverb.
