Question Having to choose just one... is it correct?

Answering a recruiter who is proposing two positions and asking for which one matches better with my skillset. My answer would be:

I have read the two job specifications and I could be suitable for both roles.

Having to choose just one I would be considered for the Project Manager position.

Your grammar is fine. Here are some changes to make it sound more natural:

I have read the two job specifications and am suited for both xxx.

Since I have to to choose xxx one, I'd like to be considered for the Project Manager position.

????
How's that?

Charlie:I know, when you try to follow the wording proposed in the original....

but what about his showing more determination, knowing where he is going in life and his career:

However, my strong preference would be for the position of Project Manager.

The original wording, SunMoon, sounds very deferential and wishy-washy to a person in Western culture. If this is necessary when you are applying for a job, and not seeming like a 'go-getter', then use the version at the top in red.

Could be. I'd say "I'd like to be considered," but I'm no career coach. I don't apply for jobs - I luck into them!

I do try to stay as close as possible to students' wording and not actually rewrite, except to make it sound more natural. But sometimes it's probably a good idea.

...and it didn't occur to me that the student was actually applying for a job! I was just looking at this as another writing assignment.

Now excuse my while I go slap myself in the head...
