Default Syllables

Please someone help, it's urgent!!!

How can we divide these words into syllables: climbed, singer, succumbing, hanged, slangy, singable, trendy ??

I don't know whether -ing, -er etc. are separate syllables, just as sing/er, suc/cumb/ing or the previous letter also belongs to them, like sin/ger, suc/cum/bing

I hope someone can help me urgently, thank you in advance!!

Greetings,
Ajax-Milan

most dictionaries do this for you, for instance:
http://m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?bo...inger&x=8&y=20
lists the entry as "sing·er"

In addition, syllabification is based on how the word sounds, or its phonetic representation ([...]), and not on how the word is spelled, or its letter representation (<...>).

For example,

Letter repesentation: <climb>
Phonetic representation: [klai'm]

The letters <mb> represent one sound, [m]. The <b> is silent. Moreover, the letters <ng> also represent one sound, [ng], a velar nasal:

<banged> [baeng'd]

In English, the letters <nd> represent two sounds, [n] [d],

<handy> [haen'di:]

but in some languages of the world, e.g., Aboriginal languages spoken in the USA and Canada, <nd> represents one sound.
