casualties
10 people have been killed and 32 wounded in the past 5 years.
Now, if the question is about the number of casualties, what is the right answer? 42 or 32?
Thank you in advance

hi shaci..! the second part of the sentence 'wounded in the past 5 years' means 'have been wounded in the past 5 years' but we don't mention have been to avoid repetition which is considered untolerated.
so 42 is the correct one

Thank you.
So, let me explain it to myself: when we talk about casualties we refer to both fatalities and injuries not just the wounded, right? I would like to think so.

A casualty is someone who has been harmed. So there are 42 casualties.
