There is no point in a big artist putting out a record any other time than in the fourth quarter of the year, when record sales worldwide are so big it is really equivalent to the rest of the year put together. So as we missed the deadlines for a fall release, the album then slipped not into early 2004 but into late 2004 with all the overheads that entails.

The fourth quarter of the year is October-November-December. Sales escalate during this time because people are buying records to give as Christmas gifts. In many retail situations, the amount of sales during this one quarter of the year exceeds those made during January through September.
