misundertaning
Own needs.
Each of us has needs. Just because we are in the business of helping to ensure that other people's needs are met does not mean that our own needs are unimporatant.Indeed,it can be seen as positively dangerous to ignore our own needs.as this can leave us very vulnerable to stress,or even 'burnout'.That is , if we do not rechange our own batteries when we need to, how can we be expected to continue to energize other people and motivate them to solve their problems or cope with their day-to-day challenges?
It is therefore very important that we are aware of what our own needs are, and take the necessary setps to ensure that they are met. A stoical
approach to one's own needs is a dangerouse one, as a worn-down worker could certainly do more harm than good.

I presume you would like someone to define the meaning of the red parts of your post, so here we go:
helping to ensure that other people's needs are met
When we know what another people need to get by and we do everythig we can to fulfill/satisfy all of those needs/requirements of those people.
vulnerable to stress
To be easily and/or greatly affected by stress. To function less well when stressed up.
they are met
When we have done all we have to do in order to fulfill/meet the need we have.
When the goal is reached.
worn-down
Overworked, knackered, very tired after working or been doing something far too long.
