Participle construction=Gerund construction?
Dear teachers,
Here are two different sentences which have similar interpretation in my native language:
Having translated the text, the student gave his translation to the teacher. Participle construction
After translating the text, the student gave his translation to the teacher. Gerund construction
Do you think this makes sense at all?

They are grammatical synonyms.
