Re: "I'm going to kip" means that 'I'm going to sleep'. right? You would usually hear it as "get some kip" in the same way as "get some sleep". If sleep, which is usually a verb, can be used as a noun, then I guess 'kip' could be too. "get some shut eye" etc.

(In the USA we also say "I'm going to get some sleep" or perhaps more often "I'm going to sleep".)
