Yep!

To be strictly correct, "data" is the plural of "datum" so it should really be .........."These data are.....".

However, nowadays most people seem to regard "data" as singular, so no one would accuse you of poor English if you treated it as such.

Reading is too weak a word.
The police would study the data - i.e. read it (them) again and again until they could draw some conclusions.
