    Default The sunny Southern Italy

    Hi!

    Is this sentence correct?

This dish represents the essence of the tastes and the colours of the sunny Southern Italy.

    Thank you!

    I would say:

This dish represents the essence of tastes and colours of the sunny Southern Italy.

I am not a teacher, I would wait for their advise.

I suggest you delete the "the" before "sunny Southern Italy."

Far be it for the British ever to butt in, but...

This dish represents the essence of the tastes and xxx colours of xxx sunny Southern Italy.

    Why not:
This dish is the essence of the tastes and xxx colours of xxx sunny Southern Italy.
    or
This dish embodies the tastes and xxx colours of xxx sunny Southern Italy. (my choice)

'represents' is such a drab word (and so most suited to, and suitable for, the windage of political discourse, not the culinary arts.)
